About Applehead (Traditional) Siamese Cats
The "Applehead Siamese" cat
is one of the oldest breeds in
cat history. You can find
pictures of a Siamese cat in a
book called "Cat Book Poems",
which was written way back,
between 1350 & 1700. This is
why they are also referred to as
"Traditional" Siamese.
The "Applehead Siamese" cat is
very robust, ranging from 8 to 15
pounds at maturity. They are
inquisitive, friendly, playful, and
talkative. Bred to be a companion
cat, it would not be uncommon for
an "Applehead Siamese" to follow
his human from room to room
trying to engage his human in
conversation and games. They
are described as "dog-like"
because they often obey
commands and play fetch to keep
their human amused!
Although the "Applehead
Siamese" cat is active
and playful, they do have
a softer side and are as
much at home on your
lap as curled up on the
sofa. They are great with
children and their fur
companions.
The "Applehead Siamese"
cat has not been recognized
in the show ring since the
1960's giving way to the
Modern Wedge Siamese. In
fact, they almost became
extinct because of this.
There are very few breeders
of the "Applehead Siamese"
cat that have lineage on
their cats, proving purebred
status.
The "Applehead Siamese" cat
can be registered with The
Cat Fanciers' Association
(CFA), the American Cat
Association (ACA), the
American Cat Fanciers'
Association (ACFA), the Cat
Fanciers' Federation (CFF)
and The International Cat
Association (TICA). Reputable
breeders keep close records
with these registries in order
to promote and perpetuate
the breed.
